Jewish Family Services of Western New York is accepting applications for a full-time Psychosocial Support Specialist.

The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Healing (RICH) is an interdisciplinary team of providers, both staff of JFS and community partners, to provide wrap around services to refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants in WNY.

This position will be responsible for assisting in the development of a low-barrier, flexible model for mental health model for refugees that will provide immediate support upon arrival. Using a refugee trauma focused methodology, the Refugee and Immigrant Outreach Counselor will offer mental health services to all Afghan arrivals and will provide education to both arrivals and agency staff members. The model will help bridge the gap between arrivals, mental health services, and staff.


  • Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field
  • Preferred experience in direct client service providing mental health support and referral linkages
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Familiarity with community and health promotion resources for refugees and immigrants.
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in the care coordination field
  • Ability to effectively provide medical case management services
  • Additional language skills desired


This position offers a competitive wage and offers great benefits including 4+ weeks accrued Paid Time Off (PTO), plus 13 holidays and excellent health insurance (BCBS). We are conveniently located off Main Street (near Highgate). Since this position requires work in the community, you must have a reliable vehicle, a clean NYS driver's license and required liability insurance levels of 100/300K. If hired, you must also be able to produce evidence of having received the Covid vaccination.
