JFSWNY is accepting applications for a full-time RICH Counselor in our Psychosocial Support Program who will work specifically with the Ukrainian community.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Healing (RICH) is an interdisciplinary team of providers, comprised of JFS staff and community partners, with a goal to provide wrap-around services to refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants in WNY.

This position will assist JFS and other refugee agencies in the development of processes that reflect a low-barrier, flexible model for mental health services for Ukrainians that will provide support upon arrival. Using a refugee trauma-focused methodology, this individual will offer mental health screening and supportive counseling including facilitation of support groups for all Ukrainians arriving to the United States. The Counselor will also provide education to arrivals and agency staff members. The model will help bridge the gap between arrivals, mental health services, and staff.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field. Licensure preferred
  • Required experience in direct client service providing mental health support and referral linkages
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Familiarity with community and health promotion resources for refugees and immigrants
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in services for trauma survivors
  • Additional language skills desired including Russian and Ukrainian

We also have a reduced 35 hour work week with an early close on Fridays.

We are conveniently located off of Delaware Avenue with free parking. Since this position requires work in the community, you must have a reliable vehicle, clean drivers license with 100/300k liability insurance and the ability to produce evidence of having received the Covid-19 vaccine if hired.
